Day 2 – May 18, 2024 – Arrival Bari
Arrival at Bari Airport and transfer to your hotel.
Afternoon at your leisure.
Welcome to Puglia dinner in the evening.

Day 3 – May 19 – Monte Sant’ Angelo & San Giovanni Rotondo
Visit Monte Sant’ Angelo Shrine and see the sacred cave where
St. Michael the Archangel is said to have appeared at least 3 times.
Visit San Giovanni Rotondo to see where Padre Pio lived and his tomb.
One of the most visited Catholic sites in the world
Overnight Bari
Day 4 – May 20 – Depart Bari to Lecce
A stop on the way at Ostuni, one of the most stunning cites in southern Italy,
with its whitewashed houses.
Many times called the “Florence of the South”, you will have a guided tour of the
city of Lecce We will see a city with fantastic baroque architecture and
the Basilica of the Saint Cross

Day 5 – May 21 – Trip to Galatina & Gallipoli
First stop is at Basilica Santa Caterina d’Alexandria and marvel at the wonderful frescoes
by artists of the Giotto School and second only to Assisi
Gallipoli, many say this is the prettiest town of the Salento area ringed by the remains
of 14th century walls and baroque architecture
Overnight Lecce
Day 6 – May 22 – Lecce to Martina Franca
We will visit a winery and taste wines and visit the castle on site
Next, you will visit the Castle Fortress in Taranto and also visit the
Archaeological Museum that has Roman & Greek artifacts
Depart for Martina Franca and the Masseria

Day 7 – May 23 – Matera
A UNESCO world heritage area that is famous for the Sassi and the Park of the
Rupestrian Churches of Matera.
UNESCO describes Matera as “This is the most outstanding and intact example of
troglodyte stalagmites in the Mediterranean region perfectly adapted to its terrain and ecosystem.
The first settlement dates back to the Paleolithic period, while the following
illustrate a number of significant stages in human history
If you are a film buff, then maybe you have seen the movie “The Passion of Christ”
which was filmed here

Day 8 – May 24 – Alberobello & Castellana Grotte
A trip to Alberobello is scheduled for this day, another UNESCO world heritage site
A wonderful tour in the caves going down 230 feet to see the stunning scenery of stalactites,
stalagmites, fossils, and caves

Day 9 – May 25 – Cooking Class & Farm Visit
Today you will visit a farm that makes cheese and produces meats and veggie and
have lunch there In the afternoon, there will be a cooking class

Day 10 – May 26 – Martina Franca to Bari
Castel del Monte, a UNESCO world heritage site
A tour of an olive oil producer and lunch at the estate
Get ready for some great deals as in the afternoon as we go to the Puglia Outlet Village

Eataly visit where you can eat or buy products from Italy for your return to the USA
Guided tour of the city of Bari
Last-minute shopping in the city center
Farewell dinner before your trip back to the USA

Transport to the airport for your departing flight.
It is possible that the order of days 2 through 11 locations is changed.
