Day 1


Depart the USA to arrive in Italy the following day.

Day 2

PALERMO

Arrive in Palermo and transfer to your hotel. Dinner and night at hotel.

Day 3

PALERMO

Palazzo Reale, also known as the Royal Palace of Palermo will start off the day.
Inside is the Palatine Chapel that was built by King Roger II in 1132 to be dedicated to Saint Peter.

Next stop will be the Massimo Theater. Built between 1877 and 1898, it is one of the greatest opera houses in Europe.
If you have ever seen the Godfather 3, this is the opera house used in the movie. 

Also today you will tour some of Palermo’s famous piazzas, the Duomo and other sites walking around the city.

Day 4

MONREALE & PALERMO

In the morning we will visit Monreale Cathedral, one of the most magnificent artistic creations of the Norman age.
Started in 1172, it is a masterpiece of mosaics covering over 100,000 sq.ft, including the ornamental sections.
With Byzantine, Latin, and Arab elements in the Cathedral.

Afternoon will be at your leisure to shop, see some additional sites on your own or just relax.

Day 5 & 6

SEGESTA-ERICE & MARSALA

Today a visit to Segesta, where the temple from the 5th century BC. and theater from the  3rd-2nd BC timeframe are impressive sites to be seen.

After the visit to Segesta, you will continue to Erice, with its medieval appearance that is 2500 feet above sea level.
Great views of Trapani, the Aegadian Islands and Mount Cofano are available from your vantage point.
You will have time for lunch and walking in the town.

Afterwards you will spend the night in Marsala.

Day 2 in Marsala you will visit the salt flats for an interesting tour of the production and visit to a windmill.

We then will take a 15 minute ferry ride to Mozia(San Pantaleo Island) where the Phoenicians had a colony around the 8th century BC. While there you will visit the Whitaker Museum, where there is a collection of Phoenician Artifacts.

After the return to Marsala you will visit a winery and have time to explore on your own.

Day 7

SELINUNTE-AGRIGENTO


First stop will be to the ancient Greek city of Selinunte. Here you will see the acropolis and temples that were built starting in 638 BC.
A visit to Sicily isn’t complete without the visit to The Valley of Temples. Built by the Greeks around 450 BC, the temples are a site to be seen.
Spend the night in the Agrigento area.

Day 8 & 9

PIAZZA ARMERINA-CALTAGIRONE-NOTO-SIRACUSA


Villa Romana del Casale, a UNESCO site that is a masterpiece of mosaic works.
After lunch, we will stop in Caltagirone, known as the home to Sicilian ceramics.
For those of you that want to walk up the Staircase of Santa Maria del Monte, built-in 1608 with 142 steps, you will see that each step is decorated with different hand-painted ceramic tiles. You will have time to shop and buy some beautiful ceramic wares if you wish.
Arrive to spend the night in the Siracusa area.
Day 2 in the Siracusa area you will visit the city of Noto, another UNESCO site that was built in the Baroque style in the 1700s.
Also to be visited is the Greek theater, Paradise quarry, and “Ear of Dionysis” with our private guide, just outside the main city of Siracusa.
Tonight dinner on the Island of Ortigia and spend the night once again in the Siracusa area.

Day 10 & 11

TAORMINA – PALERMO AREA


A jewel of Sicily with its beautiful designer shops and beautiful scenery. A visit to Mt. Etna area to get up close to the volcano and also enjoy some nice wine, as we visit a winery near the slopes of Etna.
Day 2 you can enjoy spending time in Taormina and explore the shops and visit the Greek Theater that has a spectacular view of Mt. Etna. We depart in the afternoon for the Palermo Area.This evening we will have our dinner to say our goodbye’s and talk about the great time everyone experienced.

Day 12

PALERMO AIRPORT


Departure from Palermo Airport (PMO).
